Happy 4th of July! And happy 9-month birthday to my favorite little red, white and blue beauty! =) We took some pictures of her this morning and I thought it was fitting to share a sneak peak of her all decked out for the occasion!

Isn't she the cutest!? Today was the first day I've seen her in a couple weeks and I swear she's bigger and smilier than ever!! I've missed her. Duh. I hope you all are enjoying your holiday weekend (if you get one) . We are! It's rare that we get a weekend off anymore. Both of us had yesterday off and that was great. We cooked, took a super-long walk, helped a friend, took a nap, and watched a movie. It was awesome. Today, I made some yummy breakfast (baked blueberry french toast and bacon), shot a quick photo session, walked, watched a stupid movie, ate some more, and just plain relaxed. =) It's going to be hard going back to work.

Stay tuned, we have some more fun pictures to share soon!

A couple weeks ago we took a walk on the wild side for Kayla and Chet's engagement session. Chet had the great idea of shooting at the lake - a location we hadn't tried out before. After the long, sweaty hike down the rocks...slowly (and by slowly, I mean me) but surely...we made it. It was beautiful and peaceful down there. Perfect. Minus the bugs, snakes and spiders of course! =) Hey, you know I can't help it.

These two seem to smile automatically when they're around each other - almost like it can't be helped. I love that. They goof off together, give each other a hard time, and laugh a lot.

I think you'll see that in the pictures. Here's a few of our favorites.

Chet and Kayla are getting married in August and we are fortunate enough to get to photograph it. It's especially cool because I've known Kayla forever practically...or at least since Kindergarten. Should be a super-fun time!

So Happy Fathers Day (a day late) to all you awesome dads out there! We had a good time yesterday eating and spending time with both our dads.

This little guy (and his mom) ordered a photo session to surprise his dad with some cute pictures. I think that's a fabulous idea! =) We had a great time chasing him around and playing in the rocks. He's cute - I asked him if he could come sit by me (meaning in front of me so I could snap a picture) and he did. He came and sat right next to me. It didn't help me get a picture but I was glad I got a buddy out of the deal! Anyway, his dad is a police officer so we got some shots of him sporting dad's stuff. My guess is his dad is pretty proud right about now.

Sorry I'm so quiet this morning (although you're probably not) but this weekend made me one sleepy panda. =) I think I probably fell asleep last night at around 8:30. And I'm still tired. Have a great day!

You can all breathe a sigh of relief...this isn't another pointless personal post. This is a post with pictures from a fun family session we did a couple weeks ago. Cute kids are involved, so get excited!

When Kami wrote me a while back about doing this session, I was pumped! I've known Kami for a long time. She's the older sister of one of my ALL-TIME best friends, Kasie. (Side note, Kasie, affectionately known as Kasie Boo by her niece, came along for the shoot!! Yay for that!)

Anyway, Kami wanted something 'different' (love that) so I had all these awesome locations (or so I thought) and ideas planned out. Well, when we did a final look at the places, there was something wrong with each of them. There was either too much glass around, too much tall grass/weeds and thus ticks, and basically, they just weren't kid friendly. When they arrived, little miss 'B' wasn't exactly super-excited about getting her pictures taken. SO, we headed to the nearest alley and when we got there, there was all these large construction trucks and stuff in front of where we wanted to shoot. At this point, 'B' is even more unhappy (I never realized we were so scary..hehe) so we just said forget it and worked it right there!

Kasie Boo tried making 'B' smile by fake hurting herself...like tripping on the curb, running into signs, etc... It worked like a charm. She began giggling like CRAZY!! She's just the cutest thing.  We worked fast while the smiles were in full force. Here's some of what we got:

The session might have been short and sweet but we had a great time! Kami and Ryan, thanks so much for having us capture your family at such a fun and crazy time! =) Your family is just adorable. Enjoy!

Those pics are great, Alisha! I'm not surprised Kasie's fake injuries made her laugh. That little girl can get me to laughing so hard I'm crying!

Whew! What. A. Weekend. Dac's mom turned 50! To celebrate, we (family) and one of her good friends threw her a surprise party Saturday. My sister-n-law, our friend (and adopted sister =)) Cori got up bright and early to go decorate for the party but not before stopping at the donut shop for a little morning motivation. =) Then, after putting our gangsta skills to work by spray painting signs, we went to lunch. Are you seeing a trend here? That night, we had lots of snacks...and... LOTS OF CAKE!!!

The first two cakes are ones we ordered for the surprise party. I think they're pretty funny. Bwahahahahaha. The third one, is my masterpiece! Terese always makes each of us whatever we want to eat and whatever cake we want for our birthday dinner. She wanted wedding cake. So that's what she got....or at least something like it. =) Don't be jealous of my mad cake-decorating skills. She also wanted mexican food for lunch. So Val and I made a taco/burrito bar and enchiladas and it was fabulous.

So I guess the point of this post (if there is one) is that we had a long, fun weekend and I ate WAY too much. Hope you all had a good weekend too. Hang in there - I promise we have plenty of real posts coming soon!

OH, and PS - Peety is home from the vet and is doing well. He had definite inflamation of the eye but they didn't find any scratches or anything else particularly serious. So, Dac's been putting this sab stuff on his eye three times a day and we're hoping by the time it's over, Peety will be 100%. He's already feeling a lot better so that makes me feel better too!
