Hello long lost blog friends. I guess I'm really the lost one. I sort of took a blogging hiatus (obviously) but I'm back! =) I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and that the new year got off to a great start. We had wonderful holidays! I know I promised to have pictures of all our get togethers but I guess I'm a big fat liar because I really dropped the ball this time!! Sorry!

So today, I've decided to do a little recap of 2009. I selected just a few of my favorite wedding and engagement shots we blogged last year. We were really so fortunate to work with great couples and had a blast this year. Here's a look!

Tada! Which is your favorite? I'm also going to post a few of our favorite kids/family/senior portraits too so stay tuned for that!

Liz:

My favorites are pobably everyone that has goofy looking bald guy in them. Actually, my vote is for the picture where the couple is running to hug each other. I think that is so neat!

Adrienne:

I love them all!!

Hooray for a post! I've been excited to share this one. We did Ciera's senior session a few weeks ago. It had been scheduled for early October but you may remember we had a crazy cold front come in that was just way too ridiculous to do pictures in. So, we rescheduled. Just so happens that we got a sunny, fairly warm day before yet another cold front came our way. We lucked out.

Ciera wasn't so sure about having her picture taken at first (we all know it can be a bit intimidating...) but she did great and I think she may have even had a little fun before it was all said and done. =) We looooove to have fun. So enough chatter...let's get to the good part!!

Isn't she gorgeous?

So, remember how I was determined to take pictures of ALL our Christmas adventures? Well, guess what... we joined my parents for our annual eat and look at Christmas lights extravaganza... and guess what else... yep... I forgot to take pictures. How does this happen?! It was a great time. We had all been in Wichita shopping that day, so we just met up, ate our weight in Texas Roadhouse, and headed out to enjoy the sights. It's been a tradition of ours for years and years and is one of my absolute favorites. What are some of your favorite holiday traditions?

Here's a look at some of our other Christmas plans. We'll go to my parents house Christmas Eve for snacks and games. Christmas morning we go to Dac's Grandma Jo's house for waffles, then we head to my grandma's house for a big way too delicious lunch, then that night I'll help Valerie cook for Dac's family Christmas. You may remember last year's theme was "Hawaii Holiday" and this year it's "Cajun Christmas." More on that later. The day after Christmas I'm (probably regretfully) joining Val for... gasp... after Christmas sale shopping. I normally avoid this kind of thing like the plague but I have grand plans for our decor next year so I've got to stock up on the cheap. Sunday, we'll all go over to Dac's Aunt Darla's for the annual Call Christmas get together. That's right, busy week ahead. I think it'll be fun. I'm going to try really, really hard to get pictures at these events and share them with you.

If I don't talk to you before then, have a VERY Merry Christmas!!

I wanted to stop in and share a few un-edited point and shoot pictures I took at my office's Holiday Open House. We do this every year. We decorate our conference room up in a different theme (last year was County Christmas and this year was Winter Wonderland) and make lots and lots of goodies to share with the entire school district. We had ham, mini monte cristos, tortilla pinwheels, cheese balls and cheese ball truffles (all kinds of exciting flavors), bacon-wrapped smokies, meatballs, chicken wings, wontons, and all kinds of dips and desserts - just to name a few!!  I made the ginger bread bars you see at the bottom. =) We really go all out and make several new and interesting things as well. After days of cooking, baking, cleaning, dish-washing, standing, visiting, hosting, etc... I was EXHAUSTED. My feet were killing me and I slept real good. =) Everything was delicious though and it was nice to see people I don't get to see on a daily basis. I hope everyone who came enjoyed it. Here's some shots of just a few of the snacks and decorations.

PS - Christmas is RIGHT around the come. This year I'm making it my goal to take pictures at ALL our Christmas and New Years festivities and share the highlights with all of you!

A few weeks ago we photographed another cool senior. Like a couple others we've done the past couple years, this one was... weird. Daric is Dac's cousin (mine too now) and I vividly remember he and Griff walking up to the front of church for Children's Time at the ripe old age of 3 or so. Seniors. Really? I guess so.

We had a good time during this session. It was a little windy but we couldn't have asked for a better day, especially considering it was November. I think Daric shocked us all because he had plans. He knew what he wanted, where he wanted it, and what he wanted to wear for it. I loved it! Daric's a guy's guy. He loves hunting, the outdoors, his truck, weight lifting...you get the idea. So all of these things were included in his session. Here's a look at what we got:

On a side note, Christmas is coming, well, NOW! I can't believe how quickly it sneaked up on me this year. I am usually ALL over Christmas time. I love Christmas music, Christmas decorations, Christmas cookies. =) This year is different. I still love all these things but I haven't been enjoying them. I didn't even put up our tree!!! Can you believe that?! I guess it's the whole new crazy house and crazy schedule thing we've had going on. I'm just left singing "where are you Christmas?" in my sad Cindy Loo Hoo voice. I have my first Christmas party of the season tonight, maybe that will jump start my Christmas-loving motivation. I'll tell you what though, as I've placed all things Christmas aside this year, I've been more aware of the real Reason for the Season than ever before. huh. Happy Friday.

So, here we are over a week later and I'm finally getting to my basically picture-less post about our Thanksgiving. Here's the quick rundown.

On Thanksgiving day we went to my grandma's house for one heck of a good meal with my extended family on my mom's side. Oh man. I got full. It was great! =) We had the usual Thanksgiving feast suspects (yum!) and had a nice time visiting.

Then, Saturday, Dac and I hosted our very first big family meal. We had been busting our hineys (along with our families) to get our dining room complete enough to have Thanksgiving. We had started painting it several weeks ago (without going in to the long story, it had to have 2 coats of primer and like 3 or 4 coats of paint (orange paint...Georgian Leather to be exact.) We also put wainscoting and chair rail up and there ware some electrical issues that needed fixed too. Oh, and we needed a table and chairs. =) Everything got done except we didn't find a new light for over the table or new wall sconces and we still need to get a rug and decorations. Anyway, it was touch and go there for a while but thanks to a LOT of help (thanks guys) we had most everything done and the dinner was on. We invited my parents and Dac's parents, brother, sister and Grandma Jo over for supper Saturday night. I decided I wanted it to "taste" like Thanksgiving but also be laid back and fun and not quite so traditional and formal.

Here's what was on the menu:

Pre-Meal Snackages:
Cranberry-BBQ Meatballs (thanks Terese)
Parmesan Cheesy Breadsticks (thanks Mom)
Veggie Tray (thanks Val)
Oh, and of course, our edible centerpieces:

Meal:
Cranky Turkey Sandwiches (roasted turkey, cream cheese, cranberry sauce on homemade bread - of course, most people didn't want this so I had all the usual turkey sandwich condiments too.)
Fried Macaroni and Cheese
Sweet Potato Casserole (with oh so delicious cinnamon and sugar pecans on top)
Leftover veggies, meatballs, and breadsticks from earlier

Desserts:
Pecan Pie Bars (thanks mom)
Mini Pumpkin Pie Bites drizzled with chocolate

All in all, everything turned out pretty scrumptious and we all had a good time. Thanksgiving #1 at our place....VICTORY! =) I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving too. We sure do have a ton to be thankful for don't we?
