Now, don't freak out. I realize this is the second blog post in...what? TWO DAYS!? Well I'll be. =)
A while back we had the absolute pleasure of photographing the homecoming king. Now, he wasn't royalty back when we did these pictures, but still, it's cool. In fact, you could say we were friends before he went big time. Hey Austin, don't forget us little people. =)
I'm not the least bit surprised Austin was voted homecoming king. He's hilarious. I mean, really funny. AND the nicest guy. Not to mention he has great taste in shoes. AND his favorite color is orange. MY favorite color is orange (in fact, I now have an orange dining room). Oh, and he has freckles... so he must be cool. Really though, he's great and we had the best time. Here's a few of our favorites.
I want to let you all know that the deadline for turning in your holiday print order (any print you want to be assured will be here in time for Christmas) is December 5. SO, make your list and send it our way!

Hello again! We're getting ready to go through a "Senior 2009" phase on the blog. We've decided we're going to wait until after the holidays to post stuff from our family mini-session day last month. I know several people plan to use those for cards, gifts, etc... and this way it's a surprise! BUT, we have several seniors we've yet to get on here so now's the time!
This is Jacob. Jacob is a senior. Jacob worked it out for the camera. Jacob is awesome! His dad is a police officer and Jacob plans to follow suit once out of the military so we had to get a few with the car. He looks so mischievous. =) He also brought a few t-shirts of his favorite band -- loved that! AND we snuck his girlfriend in a few too! It was a blast. We even hit up the fair with his family afterward!
We've got to photograph some really cool seniors this year. All of them are very different but very cool!
On a side note... you may remember Dac and I were getting OUR pictures taken this past weekend. We had the BEST time! It made for a super fun date and we had a great time talking shop with and learning from our wonderful photographer. More on that later, can't wait to see the pictures and share them with you.
PS - don't forget to thank a veteran today!! We want to thank all the veterans and those currently serving!

So our friends Steve and Cori trusted me to babysit this ADORABLE little girl today. Can you believe it? You can just call me super nanny form here on out. =)
We had tons of fun. Steve dropped her off this morning at about 8:30. We went to church and then went shopping. Then it was lunch, Lady and the Tramp, and a quickie "pretend" nap. Later we went to the park, had a snack, play light sabers with the Wii-motes, put "horsey" down for a nap, cuddled, ran around in a cape, danced to the Lion King songs, played other fun made up games, ate supper, and had a GREAT time until about 7! It was a blast!!! Can't wait until next time!! But for now, I'm looking forward to sleeping good tonight. =)

Can you tell I'm a blog-stalker? I'm pretty sure you posted this about three seconds ago! :) Thank you for watching her, and taking good care of her. I know she is a lot of work!! We really appreciate everything your family has done for us.

I'm always saying how important it is to take pictures for "no reason". I really believe that you shouldn't wait for an important milestone or event (wedding, baby, holiday card season, makeover, etc..) to document your life. Sure, those are great photo opportunities also, but life is more than just a series of events. It's the time in between all those things too. In fact, life is most like LIFE when it's not surrounding those times...when you're just being you.
Today, I may be regretting this philosophy. It's time for us to step in FRONT of the camera. YIKES! You may be thinking "but Alisha, what's the big deal, you've always LOVED hamming it up in front of the camera." You'd be right. The big deal is 1) we're working with a fabulous photographer and for some reason, because we're photographers too, I feel like we really need to be on our A game as clients, and 2) because I feel... Fat.
Ah, the F word. So many times I've heard people say "I want to do pictures just as soon as I lose some more weight." Every time they say that, I come flying back with my "it's not about that, it's about documenting your life like it is RIGHT NOW speech." Today I'm eating my words, taking my own advice, and practicing what I preach. Sure, when I first scheduled this session several months ago, I wasn't nearly this overweight, but thanks to some knarly meds (that I'm now off of...YES) I've gained 25-30lbs. You have no idea how bad I wanted to cancel until "I lost the weight" but I didn't. I didn't because that would make me a mega hypocrite and because I preach the truth. =)
When it's all said an done, we will have some rockin' pictures that years from now we can look at and remember what life was like when we just bought a house, were working our tails off to make our photography dream a reality and still working full time jobs to pay for it, were kid-free, and were loving each other and life the best we knew how. There will never be a time exactly like this again and I want pictures of it just because!
SO, I'm going to suck it up and suck it in and have a blast hanging out with my husband on our photo date and talking shop with Josh. =) I'm pumped.

Recently we got the chance to meet up with Nikki, WC and their little Jayhawk. =) I know, it's unfortunate not everyone can be a Cowboy, but for a Jayhawk, she's pretty cute!
I've gotta get ready for work so I don't have time to write much but I will say we had a great time with this family! We did this session the same weekend we were moving in and painting our new place so we showed up half in a daze and with paint chips in our hair, but they didn't shun us away. =) They're cool and we like that!!
If you've placed an order here recently, your pictures should be in by Monday...I'll keep you posted on that. Also, Dac has been diligently working on proofing the pictures from the family mini-session day.
