OK, wow, we are so behind on blogging it's not even funny. If it makes you feel any better, we're only neglecting our blog in an effort to get proofs out sooner. (Maybe it just makes me feel better!) So, if you're waiting on yours, hang in there!! I promise they're coming! =)
Back in, gulp, August, we got to spend a whole day with Kayla and Chet. The day was full of fun, laughs, and even a few happy tears that these two found a perfect match in each other. The wedding was beautiful and so was everybody in it. It was our first Catholic wedding to photograph, so that was cool and interesting. These guys know how to party it up too, so the reception was a blast. I even got to catch up with some old friends while we were there. Oh, AND, Kayla and Chet allowed plenty of time for pictures. This was great because we got to take just the two of them out and about for some cool portraits. It was the perfect time for them to enjoy each other and their just-married selves! =) Here's a quick glance at the day.
On a side note, Trick-or-Treat was last night (our town did it then because this weekend is ARKALALAH! Yes, I'm excited.) and we had a good time. We have several friends with little kiddos that stopped by so that was fun. =) We saw several lady bugs, soldiers, and Michael Jackson's. Did I mention Arkalalah is this weekend? =)

So, waaaaaaay back before Chet and Kayla's big day, we shot these Bridals. Kayla made a beautiful bride didn't she? Both she and Chet work and/or volunteer for our fire department so of course we hit up the station as one of our locations. It was fun! Here's just a glance at our session:
I promise we WILL get around to posting their wedding pictures (and everyone else's sessions we've yet to post) so hang in there!
This weekend was a busy weekend for us as far as photography goes. We had our first mini-session extravaganza Saturday and it was so COOL. Literally. We froze our tails off!! It was SO worth it though. We had a great time and got to meet and see a bunch of cool families!! All in all I'd say it was a big success. We're definitely talking about doing similar events next year.
Sunday, we did a "we've practically been friends since we were born and now we're seniors and want pictures together" session. I think sessions like these are such a great idea. While we're on the topic of random sessions I want to say I think it's so important to get pictures when you want them - to document life at that moment - even if there's no big "reason" to get them done. Life is more than graduations, weddings, and babies. It's everything! Anyway, more pictures to come soon!

You may remember last month Dac and I headed down to Oklahoma to photograph the wedding of the fabulous Jared and Kylie. I met both of them through some mutual friends at OSU but it was fun kind of getting to know them better that weekend. It's so obvious they're great for each other and I couldn't be happier for them!
The wedding and reception were beautiful, Kylie was a gorgeous bride, and everyone had a great time!! All in all I'd say it was a perfect day! =) Here's a glance at the details and festivities:
To the happy couple, thank you so much for having us be a part of your big day! We had a wonderful time and wish you guys all the best!

Today we'd like to share what our post-processing (editing) process looks like. Dac handles the majority of our editing work. As a graphic designer, he really has a good eye for details and he does a great job of making our photos look their very best.
We try our best to take pictures that truly capture life or even just a moment and add a little sugar and spice to make them just that much better. Sometimes we make only minor adjustments, keeping the photo as close to real-life as possible, and sometimes we add some flair to make it more of a work of art.
To us, there's a delicate balance between great, straight from the camera photos (the cupcake, if you will) and the editing (the frosting) we apply afterward. You can have a cupcake by itself and it's great. I mean hey, I'd take it and be happy! =) BUT, there's just something about adding the right amount of frosting that makes it complete. That's why we do what we do and here's HOW we do what we do. Since Dac's most recently been working on Jared and Kylie's wedding proofs, we'll use one of their pictures as an example.
Picture 1: This is what our picture looks like straight out of the camera, when it is imported into Adobe Lightroom. We shoot in RAW format which gives us the most flexibility in post processing, but it also ends up looking the most "blah" right out of the camera. See?

Picture 2: This is what the photo looks like once it has been adjusted in Lightroom. Things done in Lightroom include basic color edits and adjusting exposure (how light or dark the entire photo is). This is what our "proofs" and the photos we give clients on a CD look like.

Any photo posted to the blog, ordered as a print or canvas, or put into an album goes through Photoshop. This is where textures are applied, skin is touched up, sharpening occurs, and we are able to finish the vision that we have for the photo.

Well, Labor Day weekend is just about over and I'm sad about it. It was a good but busy weekend and quite frankly I'd like to take another day off to rest up. Thursday night we shot a fun senior session. Saturday was a great wedding day. Sunday was church, lunch at Grandma's, and a fabulous engagement session. Today was odds and ends around the house, errands, hanging out with a friend and getting baby puke ALL over me, supper at Dac's parents house, and lots of photo editing! Now that you know all these un-interesting facts about our weekend, I must tell you, I have a dentist appt. tomorrow. Just one of the many reasons I don't want the weekend to be over. I HATE going to the dentist. I practically kick and scream like a toddler on my way in for a simple cleaning! =) Wish me luck.
Here are a couple sneak peeks from the weekend. Rusty and Amanda got married in a sweet ceremony Saturday. They both looked great and we really enjoyed the laid back day. They're so cute together! Yesterday we met up with Jerry and Adrienne for their rad engagements. We've been looking forward to this one for a quite some time and it didn't disappoint. These two are fun! =) All of these guys helped us to have a great weekend!
