Several months ago, Nicole e-mailed us about ordering a gift card for her parents' Christmas present. Since Nicole and Mike live states away now AND have the sweetest little new guy in the family, she thought it'd be something fun to do when everyone was together again. That was going to be February. February brought a blizzard so we re-scheduled and had a great time during the heat wave when they were back in town last week! =)

I'm so happy it worked out for us to do this. It was obvious right off the bat that this family is an awesome one! They smile and laugh a lot so I know they must always have a blast together!

Here's a few from the sweaty session! =)

Thanks so much guys! We're thrilled we got to know you and had a blast! Enjoy!

A couple weeks ago, Dac and I photographed a birthday party of one pretty-dang-cute little 1-year old girl! Little Miss got a ton of fun gifts and I think she just loved plowing through her cake! =) (In her defense, the cake was pretty amazing.) While we were there we grabbed some family pictures too. Here's a recap!

The next few weekends are filled with friend time and trying to finish up some house projects. We also start our run of engagement sessions next week. We're so excited to get to work with all these awesome couples. Expect many more blog posts in the near future!

UPDATE: WOW-WOW-WOW!! You guys ROCK! We are all booked up!! Thanks!! PS - Have I mentioned I love our clients?!

I know, I know...you don't want to hear it. I'm not sure I'm ready for it either, but the truth is, the holidays are just around the corner! Now is the time to be thinking about doing family portrait sessions for those holiday cards and gifts. Since we have a full schedule, we are offering a day packed full of mini family sessions so more people can have the opportunity to get great pictures!! This is the first time we've attempted something like this and we're excited about it! We have 11 slots open on October 17 - first come first serve. There's more information below:

Get excited - it's going to be FUN!

Brooke, a friend I worked with in the shoe department at Dillard's (good times in the clubhouse, good times), contacted me a while back about taking pictures of her kiddos. Brooke is fun and energetic so no doubt her kids are too. We met up at Riverside Park in Wichita and we had a blast chasing the kids around - they had us cracking up the entire time. =) It was a super hot day so when the fountains came on later that morning we had to get some shots of them splashing around in that. Here's some of our favorites. I had a hard time narrowing it down because there were so many fun ones of the kids playing.

Brooke - thanks so much for inviting us to do pictures! We LOVED it and can't wait to do it again. It was really good seeing you - wish we could have had more time to chat! Seriously girls - we need to do Knolla's asap.

The kids had a blast with you and Dac. And yes...we do need a Knollas day soon.

You might remember our good friends Tim, Tamara, and the ever-so-lovable Corndog from a session we did last fall. Well there's a new addition to the family...Corndog's new brother....Porkchop! =) Love it! Here's some of our favorites.

We laughed because last time we tried to do a quick session, it got too dark on us too quick. This time, we had plenty of light... the HOT SUN! It was a good 106 degrees or something that day and by the time it was all said and done, we were all drenched and the pups were practically passed out. We had a great time though and I think the dogs did too...they got to play at the park and even go down the slide! Thanks for sweating it out with us guys! Enjoy the pictures! =)

Kathy McGowan:

I LOVE the one with the puppy looking straight at the camera with his tongue hanging out! Great shot!

Katie:

I love those! I really need you & Dac to come to Manhattan to do pictures of the cats...I don't think they'd be too happy doing a shoot in AC! haha

You can all breathe a sigh of relief...this isn't another pointless personal post. This is a post with pictures from a fun family session we did a couple weeks ago. Cute kids are involved, so get excited!

When Kami wrote me a while back about doing this session, I was pumped! I've known Kami for a long time. She's the older sister of one of my ALL-TIME best friends, Kasie. (Side note, Kasie, affectionately known as Kasie Boo by her niece, came along for the shoot!! Yay for that!)

Anyway, Kami wanted something 'different' (love that) so I had all these awesome locations (or so I thought) and ideas planned out. Well, when we did a final look at the places, there was something wrong with each of them. There was either too much glass around, too much tall grass/weeds and thus ticks, and basically, they just weren't kid friendly. When they arrived, little miss 'B' wasn't exactly super-excited about getting her pictures taken. SO, we headed to the nearest alley and when we got there, there was all these large construction trucks and stuff in front of where we wanted to shoot. At this point, 'B' is even more unhappy (I never realized we were so scary..hehe) so we just said forget it and worked it right there!

Kasie Boo tried making 'B' smile by fake hurting herself...like tripping on the curb, running into signs, etc... It worked like a charm. She began giggling like CRAZY!! She's just the cutest thing.  We worked fast while the smiles were in full force. Here's some of what we got:

The session might have been short and sweet but we had a great time! Kami and Ryan, thanks so much for having us capture your family at such a fun and crazy time! =) Your family is just adorable. Enjoy!

Katie:

Those pics are great, Alisha! I'm not surprised Kasie's fake injuries made her laugh. That little girl can get me to laughing so hard I'm crying!

Three posts in one week?! LOOK OUT!! Our last family session was with the fabulous Casey, Sammi and a-dor-able kiddos. This might have been the windiest day yet... but we weren't out in it long because little miss had more pressing things to tend to...like playing. =) It was pretty funny. She wanted to be anywhere where the camera wasn't. Regardless it was so much fun...and check out little man's cheeks! GASP! So squeezable!

Here's a few of our favorites:

This weekend is BIG for us. We are so pumped to shoot a wedding for a GREAT couple tomorrow. I'm sure the nerves will kick in tomorrow (they always do) but right now we're in pure excitement mode. It's an outside wedding so I'm praying the rain away. =) I'd hate to have to do my anti-rain dance...more importantly, you'd probably hate for me to do my anti rain dance. Anyway, we also have a fun engagement session Sunday. I'm excited for that too...I have a new location I've been dying to try out. It really is supposed to rain that day...but I mean business now!

Have a great weekend and don't forget to hug your mom Sunday! =)

Janice Hensy aka Momma and YaYa:

I loved all the pictures of my kids. You did a wonderful job and yes Miss Gracie is a busy little girl. Mr. Cooper does have the most kissable cheeks out there and a very quick warm smile! Thanks for capturing this beautiful family in a natural setting.

I have to tell you, I'm now craving McDonald's... maybe a nice biscuit and a hash brown....eh?

This family is one. cool. family! There's lots of them and each one is stocked full of personality, jokes, jabs and love. On the way home we commented on just how 'good' they are together and how the spouses fit in perfectly. Oh, they are also a very welcoming group and instantly made us feel right at home.

This is the biggest family we've photographed (aside from formals at weddings) and we really just didn't know how to plan for that, so we didn't. We just showed up, fought the wind and watched them interact. It was just a great time.

You may remember some of this group from this session a while back.

Hooray! It's our first session on the new blog! We took these pictures Easter weekend and there was tons of light to play with...not something we've seen much of here lately. Ok, I'll be honest with you...I'm really trying to focus on writing this but I'm watching Mama Mia...and I am SUCH a sucker for musicals...especially the large group song and dance spectaculars...sigh. Ok, that part's over now...back to reality. But seriously...life should really be more like a musical!  Wouldn't that be awesome?! No?

For real this time, back to these cute kids. We had so much fun that afternoon. They both have such great personalities. Miss A was good about letting us know she would smile when SHE wanted to while her brother could crank grins out at the snap of the finger. They're quite the pair! =)
